SUN CITY – The time of ghosts and goblins is upon us once again. This Sunday, October 24, Sun City will be inundated with pirates, ninjas, ballerinas, and lady bugs when The Grandma, Grandpa and Me Club has their Halloween Party.
Tickets are $4 per person, and children 3 and younger are free. Tickets must be purchased before the event. It will be held in the Prairie View Lodge from noon until 2 p.m. Afterwards, from 2 until 4 p.m., the children will be trick-or-treating throughout the neighborhoods. If you would like to treat the tricksters, please have your porch lights on. Children will only be going to well-lit houses. The event is orchestrated by the Grandma, Grandpa and Me Club President, Karen Czerwinski, of N.17.
“We’ve sold over 200 tickets, and we’re planning on selling another fifty more this week before the party,” said Czerwinski.
Sun City apparently loves the thrills, chills, and shrills of laughter that this event elicits because it’s been going on for about eight or nine years now. In fact, the Halloween Party was so popular that, “The first year that I came…you could hardly move around. There had to have been at least 500 people. We had to cut it down to 300 people for fire code,” Czerwinski said. With such a vast group of participants, the future of the Halloween Party is secure, Czerwinski said, “As long as the club is in existence, this will go on.”
So if you’re ready to treat the tricksters and feel young again through the miracle of children’s laughter, turn on that porch light, stock up on candy, and get ready for Sun City’s Halloween Party this Sunday, October 24. Czerwinski promises, “It’s two hours of great fun for all.”
