The Sun City Celtic Club celebrated their 9th anniversary on September 2nd in Drendel Ballroom. As always, the crowd arrived in rare form—some wearing Hawaiian Shirts, and some wearing Kilts. No matter what their choice of attire was, they were determined to have a great time.
The evening began with a great buffet, then Celtic Club President, Betty King, welcomed all of the members, new and old, and introduced the Celtic Club officers. As tradition has it, the founders of the Club, Mary Sugrue Andreides and Tom & Maureen Dwyer, along with the former Celtic Club Presidents, Bob Reuter (not present), Jack Neven and Sheila Gillis were introduced by Betty King, and she thanked them for their dedication to the club.
Thursday, November 11: (Please note: November meeting is the second Thursday in November). You are invited to a moving tribute to all arms of the Military Service that will be dedicated to all Vets. The fabulous Judy Mercer accompanied by Peter Davis will entertain with WWII songs.
Thursday, December 2: Celtic Christmas Party! Flyers will be distributed at the November meeting, emailed to members, and will be posted on the website. Cost is $15 per person. Great entertainment by Triple Play Band and Great Food!
Not only was the crowd in rare form, so were the entertainers! TR Kerth and Old’s Cool band appeared on stage, looking a bit mixed up as they wore Hawaiian Shirts with their Kilts! As always, they gave a great performance. And, in addition to the great performance, TR answered that age-old question: “What’s he wearing under his kilt?” when he suddenly lifted his kilt up and we all saw he was sporting RED STRIPED BOXER SHORTS! Needless to say, the crowd roared with laughter—and they are now a bit smarter! So, not only was the night fun, it was educational, too!
The Celtic Club is fortunate to have so many delightful members and volunteers.
