SUN CITY – For one night this season, the Fun Nite Committee will put away their bingo cards and tumbler and roll out an evening of holiday entertainment with their first-ever Fun Nite Holiday Party.
Drendel Ballroom doors open at 6 p.m. Monday, December 13 for games, contests, raffles, refreshments, snacks, desserts, and entertainment.
“We [Fun Nites] established quite a following, and we thought it might be a nice idea to offer a Christmas party,” said Fun Nite Committee Chairperson Diane Naples. “We thought we could create a nice night for people to come to.”
The Fun Nite Holiday Party is open to all with an all-inclusive admission of $10.
Rather than the usual hum of B4, guests will enjoy the entertainment of Sun City favorite Sharon Leslie. Leslie has entertained throughout the Chicago area for senior centers, independent living centers, nursing homes, dances, and private parties. She will interact with the audience and lead many of the Holiday Party’s games and trivia contests with her on-stage assistant Santa (who will also be available for photos, so guests are encouraged to bring their cameras).
One of the many highlights of the evening, Naples said, is the Christmas Sweater Contest in which “The person who wears the prettiest or the most unusual sweater will get a prize,” Naples said.
Naples added that all guests will also receive a complimentary Christmas gift to take home.
Fourteen local sponsors, Naples said, are providing the prizes for the raffle drawing and helped fund the evening.
Over the years, Naples said, the Fun Nite Committee has worked hard to provides dozens of evenings of games and entertainment. Naples promised that this year’s Holiday Party will live up to the committee’s proven success at offering a fun night to remember.
“It’s just a party to have some fun,” Naples said. “People should come if they want to meet new people, have a night that’s full of fun [and] friendship. I just want people to come and have a good time.”
