My wife and I moved from Arlington Heights to Neighborhood 32B in 2002 and both retired in 2003. I got a small point-and-shoot camera as part of a retirement gift, in preparation for a cruise we were planning on taking to celebrate our retirement.
I decided to move up to a better camera as I started to learn what my camera could and could not do. The new camera came with a telephoto lens that allowed me to take pictures of subjects that were off in the distance. At that point, I got hooked on nature photography. It has now become an integral part of my retirement life.
I have been lucky enough to be able to give back to the community by providing pictures to Life Styles magazine, McHenry County Conservation District, Village of Huntley, Birds and Bloom magazine, Northwest Quarterly magazine, The Land Conservancy of McHenry County, and the Daily Herald newspaper for use in their publications. Most of these pictures highlight the lovely natural environment we have here in the Sun City area.
