Restaurateur Spiro Angelos discusses Jameson’s plans with residents at CAM Board meeting

By My Sunday News

SUN CITY – At the CAM Board meeting held on Wednesday, February 16, Chicagoland restaurateur Spiro Angelos met with Sun City residents to discuss the opening of Jameson’s as Sun City’s new foodservice provider.

Angelos is the creator and founder of Jameson’s Charhouse and other restaurant concepts, including Joe’s Kitchen and Tavern, which has a location by Spring Hill Mall in Carpentersville. Angelos has successfully established and operated restaurants for more than 20 years and still has 17 concepts operating today.

Angelos started by clarifying that the new concept operating inside Sun City will simply be called Jameson’s.

Chief among the questions by Sun City residents was when will Jameson’s open? Angelos stated that if the final details of the contract would be worked out (possibly by Friday, February 18), Jameson’s estimated full opening would be April 1, with a full menu.

Angelos spoke briefly about some of the renovations required before that time, which includes updated kitchen equipment and changes to the décor, including new tables.

Angelos also stated that Jameson’s menu prices are about 15% to 20% less expensive than Walleye Grill’s, with hamburgers ranging in the $6.95/$7.95 territory.

One Sun City resident presented the question of if or what marketing Jameson’s would do in the greater public outside the Sun City campus. Angelos said that for the first several months, their focus would be on the Sun City community before branching out to the general public.

As for now, Angelos stated, Jameson’s will not host entertainment. It will be open for lunch and dinner and with operating hours until 10 p.m.

Angelos also stated that Jameson’s will honor banquets that were planned before the closing of the Walleye Grill, with the only adjustments being made to menu selection.

Angelos concluded his discussion with informing residents that comment cards will be available to diners so they may be able to judge the feedback they are receiving.
