Sunflower Garden Club trip

On Thursday, April 21, the Sunflower Garden Club will be going to Lilacia Park and to lunch at Casey’s in Lombard, Illinois. The bus will leave Del Webb at 8:45 a.m. and return at 3 p.m. The cost is $29 and includes bus transportation, self tour of Lilacia Park, and lunch. Lunch choices are Chicken Breast with rice, London Broil with noodles, or Sautéed Tilapia with vegetables. Italian American Club news

5,863 pop tabs and counting

Congratulations and thank you to the Lutheran Women’s’ Mission League of Trinity Lutheran Church, 11008 Church Street in Huntley. They have collected 5,863 pop tabs for the Grafton Township Supervisor’s Ronald McDonald Pop Tab Drop off Program. 

This township program is ongoing, and we are asking that residents save their pop can tabs and drop them off at the township offices at 10109 Vine Street, Huntley.  If you have questions about this program please contact the Supervisor’s Office by calling 847-669-3328 or email at lindamooregt@hotmail.com.


Live at Millrose

On his tenor sax, Sun City resident Frank Ardito of N.30 will perform with the John Weber Trio at Millrose Restaurant in South Barrington for their Wine and Jazz Festival Dinner on Wednesday, March 23, from 6:30 to 9 p.m.

Golf club news

The first Sun City Golf Club meeting of 2011 is Wednesday, March 16, 6:30 p.m. in the Drendal Ballroom*.  The annual membership dues are $10. Please bring your Sun City ID card for sign up (this will be the best $10 you spend on golf all year).  You must be a member to be eligible for all raffles and outings. New members and golfers of all levels are welcome. 
Representatives from all Sun City leagues will also be available for league sign up.

Neighborhood 3 March Meeting: Meet the candidates

Do you know the candidates in the upcoming Huntley Consolidated Election?

A trip to Stockholm… Inn 

On Wednesday, March 16 at 10 a.m., the Scandinavian American Club will travel to the Stockholm Inn at 2420 Charles Street in Rockford for a Swedish pancake breakfast.  Cost is $11.70 per person which includes pancakes, sausage, bacon, coffee, plus toppings of strawberries and lingonberries.  Gratuity and tax are included.  Each person to pay own bill at restaurant.

Driving directions:  Take I-90 West; exit at Business20/East State Street; go west about 4.9 mi on East State to So.Rockford Avenue.

(So. Rockford is just a short block past Welty Ave.)  Turn left at the stoplight onto So. Rockford and proceed about .5mi. and then turn left into shopping center with Stockholm Inn.


Looking for a golf league?

The Sun City Tuesday Men’s League is accepting new members for the 2011 season. This is a 96 member, 18-hole, Match Play handicap league that plays on Tuesday mornings at Pinecrest Golf Club. We tee off at 8 AM from both tees 1 and 10 with the last foursome going off at 9:28 a.m.

Every Tuesday we have four event prizes plus skins. We will start play on May 3, 2011 and play 22 weeks.

The entry fee is $160.00, which includes weekly event prize money, end of season prize money for most points won, end of year luncheon, and two green fees in escrow to cover days that members do not get a substitute.

Swing for registration

Yes, it’s that time of year to start thinking about spending time at the old ball park. But first we have to have a General Softball Meeting.

The meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Friday April 1 at Drendel Ballroom. We will get together and talk baseball. 

At that time we will be accepting registrations from past, as well as any  new softball players who want to come and join us and spend time playing Americas #1 favorite sport.

Tiara Tea luncheon

On Thursday, March 24, 2011 the Tiara Tea Society will enjoy lunch at Joe’s American Kitchen & Tavern at 11:30 a.m. Joe’s, on Route 31 near Spring Hill Mall, opened in November 2010 and is known for serving all-American comfort food. You will order off the menu and be given separate checks. Prices range from $6.95 to $19.95.

Celtic Club News


March 17: Annual St. Patrick’s Day play & dinner! “Clarisse and the Colonel,” written by Regina Gately. Corned beef and cabbage dinner from Harrington’s. Check at the CAM desk to see if tickets are still available! You won’t want to miss the night of great food, great fun and great friends! (You do not have to be a member of the Celtic Club to sign up for this event.)
April 14 meeting note: The April meeting has been moved to the second Thursday in April!  At this meeting you will enjoy an evening of traditional Irish entertainment by: The Rebecca McCarthy School of Irish Dancers & Megan McKeon on the violin/fiddle and Siobhan Wocik on the flute. Members are asked to bring traditional Irish Treats.

The fun never stops at the Celtic Club!

The Celtic Club meets the first Thursday of the month (unless otherwise stated) in Drendel Ballroom at 6 p.m. Bring Treats to share with your fellow Celts. Cash Bar. Coffee Provided. Dues: $10 per year.
