Let the ‘son’ shine in

By Brad Wagner

SUN CITY- “Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity,” Psalm (133:1).

Randy Bandy of N. 15 and The Sonshine Boys, a weekly bible study group based out of Sun City, has truly taken this message to heart.

“We started in 2000 … [so we’ve] existed for 10 or 11 years [now],” said Bandy.

When the group first started, they were meeting about once a month. The success of the group meant that they had to meet every other week, and now they have become so popular that they have to meet every week.

“[We] just had some new guys come in today,” said Bandy. The Sonshine Boys has blossomed to 30 to 40 men that come regularly.

“[We] have some time for prayer, a song or two, and [then] get into our bible study … [we] end with some coffee and doughnut time,” said Bandy. “[We meet] from about 9 to 10 o’clock [at the Citizens Bank]…. They have been kind enough to let us use those rooms without charge…. We are grateful for that,” said Bandy.

The Citizens Bank is located at 12101 Regency Square Parkway in Huntley and the Sonshine Boys meet every Friday at 9 and go till 10 o’clock. They have a special event once a month where members invite their wives to join them for bible study.

“[We provide] fellowship and accountability,” said Bandy.

“These guys just want to shine for the Lord,” said Bandy. “In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven,” (Matthew 5:16).
