The Sun City Property Assessment Council wishes to remind Sun City residents that August starts property tax assessment time. Beginning about August 15, the townships will be publishing the 2011 property assessments. Hampshire Township is expected to publish first. It will publish in the Courier-News. It will be followed by Grafton Township in The Farmside newspaper and Rutland Township in the Courier-News. The information published will look something similar to the below excerpt:
01-01-xxx-001 NF IMP 127,964 Total 131,508
Anonymous, T. A. & Bride
01-01-xxx-002 IMP 127,964 Total 158,795
No Name & Mrs. No Name
01-01-xxx-003 NF IMP 115,046 Total 146,485
Not to be Known 4001 TRUST
The listing can be searched by the property owner’s name or by Township lot number. Once the information is published, the assessments as well as a wealth of back-up information will be posted on SunCPAC’s Model Report (found on-line at www.suncpac.org). With the information in the Model Report, residents can compare their assessment with those of similar models within their township, as well as verify the correctness of the data on which the assessment is based. This can help determine if a resident wishes to appeal their assessment. There is a 30-day-after-publication time limit on the appeal period. Assessment Complaint forms, as well as instructions on how to complete the form, are available online at the County Assessor’s website or in paper from the County Assessor’s office.
SunCPAC suggests that all residents review their assessment information via the Model Reports in a timely manner. If there seems to be issues, it is suggested that residents first contact their Township Assessor to discuss apparent problems before filing a complaint form with the County Assessor’s office.
