SUN CITY – Normally an encore is a short set that happens after the main show, when the crowd cheers for more. But in Sun City, an encore is an entire show itself and an evening of unforgettable performances. It’s also, some say, the “hottest ticket in Del Webb.”
In 2007, following the success of the Sun City Idols competition, the Idols Encore show emerged and has been a sellout show ever since.
“We keep the show fresh,” said Idols Encore creator Marsha Kapchinski, who is also the show’s director and producer.
When: Friday and Saturday, September 23 and 24 Time: 7 p.m.
Run time: 2 hours
Tickets: $14, available at Prairie Lodge and Meadowview Lodge
This year’s Idols Encore show on Friday and Saturday September 23 and 24 promises to live up to Kapchinski’s words, as it offers backup singers, dancers, more costumes, and a 50s/60s theme, which is a first for the show, in addition to its usual performances.
“We’ve just been building on it since the first year,” said Kapchinski.
Kapchinski added that everyone in the show is from Sun City.
“It’s everybody’s neighbor,” Kapchinski said. “We’re going to have a fabulous show this year.”
