HUNTLEY – On November 2, a veteran will fly out to Washington D. C. to experience the World War II memorial. That veteran is Al Jordi of Huntley.
“I was born in Huntley [and] I’m still living there,” said Jordi.
He will visit Heritage Woods to talk about his trip on November 11.
“It’s an honor to be chosen [for the Honor Flight]…. It’s been twenty five years since I’ve been in Washington D.C.,” said Jordi.
The Honor Flight program is orchestrated by the Veterans Network Committee of Northern Illinois.
“[It’s an honor to be] representing the village of Huntley,” said Jordi.
The World War II memorial was started in September 2001 and opened to the public on April 29 of 2004.
“I’m excited about being with people that represented the United States in the service,” said Jordi.
Jordi said, “It’s a privilege and a good thing for me to represent the [town] I was born in.”
