Some thought that November 11, ’11 was just a date of “all 11’s.”
Many recalled it commemorated “Veterans Day”
to honor those who served our country.
Some, who had served, died “in action”
or outside of the battlefields.
Many were wounded and injured and lived through it
with suffering and great courage.
Some did not wear military uniforms – those in the CIA.
Many lived through the battles or time-in-service
without wounds or scars.
Some did not have to leave the USA or friendly nations
during their service, but did their part.
Many served on land, in the air, and on the sea.
They were everywhere, wherever needed.
Some had Officer Rank, many did not.
They all did their job the best they could.
Many wives, husbands, children, parents, brothers, sisters,
relatives, and friends sacrificed part of themselves
as they hoped and prayed for their loved ones.
All had served our great Nation, their God, their families,
their friends, and us too.
They preserved our Freedoms which we enjoy today.
We take these Freedoms for granted so much.
It’s even hard to name them all.
Start with the Bill of Rights,
those beautiful and profound first 10 Amendments
to our U.S. Constitution,
including Freedoms of Speech and of Worship
and so much more.
Recognize that we are a Nation of Laws, compassion,
liberty, personal and property rights.
Then, we start to get the idea of what those Freedoms are,
and what those sacrifices were for.
Veterans. Thank you for serving.
Thank you for your courage.
Thank you for being humble.
Please remember, we all thank you in our hearts.
At our Thanksgiving tables especially –
in our Prayers we thank God for you all,
and ask God’s blessings for you all.
You have blessed us already.
Now may there be peace.
