If you have caught a view of Prairie’s indoor pool on recent Saturday mornings, you have heard and seen a lot of excitement and swimming going on! It seems that our new coach, Chris Hinde, is intent on strengthening Stingrays’ membership as a club, as well as helping us all to swim much more efficiently. Inviting members of his water aerobic classes who would like to join us and learn more about the proper swimming strokes, the Stingrays in return are learning some strong warm-up water aerobic moves that help the senior body prepare for a great workout! Put the two athletic activities together and you have a wonderful training session for senior swimmers.
Why not join is and see what all the learning and laughter is about? We go up on the right side of the pool lap lanes and come back on the returning pool’s right side. There is plenty of room for new swimmers to “test their fins!” The sixteen to twenty aqua athletes now in the Saturday morning sessions welcome you to be instructed by Coach Chris along with our assistant coach, Stingray Len Lencioni. In fact, Coach Hinde has anointed all of us with the possibility of coaching one another.
He iterates, “Whenever you see someone in need of proper technique, please help them. We are one big family.” One of the healthiest choices you, as a Sun City senior and water lover, can make to help your body stay strong or get stronger: join the Stingray Swim Club.
Saturday sessions begin at 9 a.m. sharp and conclude at 10:30 a.m. There is always lots of lap lane space after the Stings’ workout to continue practicing what you’ve learned. On the second Saturday of each month from 10:30 a.m. to approximately noon, our meeting in the all-purpose room directly across from the pool is held. Refreshments are served at this time.
Looking forward to seeing you in the near future!
