It has been a busy year for SunCPAC, but with the completion of the Rutland Township Assessment Information Classes, the Sun City Property Assessment Council draws to conclusion its major events for 2011. During the year, SunCPAC has provided Sun City residents with its Model Reports showing property assessments in an easily comparative arrangement. It has, as well, conducted general Neighborhood Presentations, specific Township centered Expos where more specific information was provided to individual homeowners, and finally Assessment Information Classes about how to make an assessment appeal.
The Assessment Information Expos and Classes matured from sessions where residents obtained copies and explanations of their assessment and tax information to sessions where residents were provided guidance about how to make assessment appeals based on sales value of their homes, as well as its equity with other similar model homes. During the last half of the year, hundreds of Sun City residents attended Expos and Classes for Hampshire, Grafton, and Rutland Townships following the publication of each Township’s 2011 assessments. The result was a better evaluation by residents as to whether to make an appeal to adjust their assessment. And, many learned the skills and connections needed to make an effective appeal. The general evaluation of the Expos and Classes was that they proved very helpful to residents.
As all three Townships have now published their assessments, closed their assessment appeal period, and each home’s assessment data along with access to Kane County Guide to an Assessment Complaint is posted on the SunCPAC Model Reports website at www.suncpac.org , a quiet period will follow. SunCPAC plans to continue its Model Report services in 2012 and will provide more information once the new year is underway.
