Christmas Spirit. It can’t be bought; it must come from the heart. I know it is the end of February, but reminiscing about the past Christmas Season gives me pause. I joined the Sunflower Garden Club because gardeners tend to be happy, generous people willing to share knowledge and time. (Some club members don’t even garden.) They also have a knack for having fun. This past Christmas Season, the Sunflower Garden Club shared their Christmas Spirit by giving to women-women giving to women. Under the leadership of Linda Nisi, President of the Club, members donated one hundred gifts plus $431.00 in gift cards to Home of the Sparrow. Home of the Sparrow offers housing, food and clothing to mothers and children in need in McHenry County and Northern Illinois. Linda’s idea was for the members of the club to give gifts to the women who unfortunately find themselves in need. (These women are generally abused and have nowhere else to turn.) Club members’ response was overwhelming. The women of Home of the Sparrow were deeply grateful. It is an honor to share with those in need what we are so fortunate to have. Good people doing good things!
