Shame on you!
You are being used by the Huntley Seniors for Progressive Action to promote their political agenda. You are either naive or a left wing liberal.
Newspapers are “supposed” to be unbiased in the presentation of actual news.
I’m probably naive, also. I expected more of the Sun Day.
The above letter was mailed to the Sun Day expressing disapproval with the handling of political material in the paper. The Sun Day would like to address these claims:
The Political Place section in the Sun Day was created due to the high volume of political submissions the paper has received recently from political groups, most notably Huntley Seniors for Progressive Action and the Huntley Tea Party.
We receive a near equal amount of information from both groups and work to publish all of what we receive. While we may not always be able to print everything due to space constraints, we work to ensure a political section that is representative of the amount of submissions we receive and activity happening within each group.
The Sun Day is not being “used” by any group to advance any agenda. We run the disclaimer before each edition’s political submissions to make this clear. The Sun Day writes none of these submissions, and they are edited only for grammar, length, and space in a way that does not alter the meaning of the submission. The Sun Day does not endorse any political candidates for public office.
At times, reporters from the Sun Day will report on political groups or attend events held by them. We strive to report in an unbiased method and believe our reporters are up to that task.
We invite any and all residents and groups to submit to the Sun Day and will publish any and all content that is submitted without discrimination.
