Who’s For Number Two?
When Mitt Romney announced his choice for Vice President, there was a groundswell of reaction. Some of the Huntley Seniors for Progressive Action quickly commented:
“Yeah, that Paul Ryan. The architect of the Republican plan to kill Medicare.”
“I’m feeling very good about this choice…Mitt is now running with an Ayn Rand groupie. Perfect! Newt’s said only one thing that makes sense to me: Paul Ryan’s budget is “right wing social engineering.”
“Great choice. Romney just introduced Ryan as the next President of the United States. A little Freudian slip on Romney’s part because down deep he knows Ryan is a stronger individual and will solidify the base and extol the virtues of Ayn Rand. Once again great choice, congratulations, mazol tov, and Obama will now win Florida in a landslide.”
“I know that Paul Ryan’s extreme budget would end Medicare as we know it. It would be turned into a voucher program. That would increase seniors’ health costs by $6,350 a year. Ryan has also proposed a plan that would have privatized Social Security, subjecting us seniors’ retirement security to the whims of the stock market.”
“We understand that, like Mitt Romney, Ryan’s severely conservative positions are out of touch with most Americans’ values. He would take us backward on women’s health and equal rights.”
HSPA encourages Sun City residents to get to know what the Romney choice could mean, particularly to seniors. Our job is to make sure Americans know the truth about what Romney’s choice says about him as a candidate and leader, and to stand with President Obama and Vice President Biden at another major moment in this campaign.
Come to our September 13 General Meeting at 6:30 p.m. at the Huntley Park District REC Center Willow Room and get a better view of what all this means.
