We have been living in Sun City since 2001. I have been decorating ever since I moved here. Even before coming to Sun City, I would decorate for Christmas every year.
Every year I start putting my Christmas lights up the first week in November. The obvious reason for doing that is to get them up before the cold and wet weather starts. I turn them on every night, starting Thanksgiving night, at 4 p.m. and leave them on until around 10 p.m. If I look out the window, I can see many cars stop in front of the house to look at the lights. I enjoy putting them up every year and try to add a little something new each year; however, I am about to run out of room. At present, I have around 5,000 or more lights, of which most have now been converted to LED lights. I decorate the outside and my wife Beverly decorates the inside. She has well over 100 Santas that she puts up every year, plus many animated decorative items, plus every window has lighted candles and lighted scenes. It takes nine switches to turn on all the lights outside and 14 switches to turn everything on inside. One of my neighbors asked me, “how long are you going to continue doing this?” My answer was, “When I fall off the roof, then that will be my last time. Until then, I will be out here decorating.”
