Sun City: It’s where the wild things are
Sun City is fortunate to be home to an assortment of wildlife, from birds, deer, predators, etc. As the winter continues, many of our wildlife neighbors push closer to the homes in search of food, as the food sources become scarce.
Thsee photos were taken on Jan. 21 in my backyard but what caught my attention was the “nervousness” of the deer – and for good reason; the “Wiley Coyote” was tracking them, and in search of food, they made a rare appearance in the open. (They usually stay in the shadows).
This not only provided for a rare viewing/photo opportunity but a reminder to folks who use the various trails in Sun City. You are not alone and be cognizant of your dogs/pets that could be mistaken for “bait,” even you, if you’re carrying anything edible in your pockets.
This particular coyote in the following photos is one of several seen (usually heard) in the prairie; don’t know where the others were yesterday afternoon, but they are getting hungry with the cold weather (rabbits, possums, and other small critters are getting scarce) and are bolder in search of food.
The photos were all taken in my backyard adjacent to neighborhood 14 on the walking trail.

Bunco buddies
Neighborhood 9’s Bunco Buddies christmas party was held at Sorrento’s Ranch Restaurant, near Sycamore, on Dec. 13, where we enjoyed excellent food, flaming desserts, great service, and a party we look forward to every year.
