Nixle is an online application that describes itself as a Community Information Provider. Nixle brings together agencies such as police-fire-utility services and organizations for us to get really useful information. And get this; you can receive this information in REAL TIME delivered directly to your cell phone with text messaging, e-mails, and Internet access. (This is where my grandchildren’s help comes into play). Nixle is completely free for both individuals and government to use.
Nixle is reliable and secure and offers you the ability to receive alerts through the Internet and directly to your mobile phone with a text message. As an example, recently there was a horrific accident that closed down Route 47 and Kreutzer Road for several hours. This information was sent to me in real time via a text message on my cell phone, which enables me to avoid the area until the situation was corrected. I have also received information on gas leaks in our area, lane closures, I-90 back up delays etc.
It’s easy to join, gives you pertinent information regarding our neighborhood, and it’s free. I’m pleased to say this service does not give you “spam” info and only as much information as you desire using your zip code. For more information go to NIXLE.com. You will not be disappointed.
