HUNTLEY – The Centegra Hospital-Huntley construction project will officially take root this July, confirming the development of the 360,000 square-foot facility which began in March and is scheduled to conclude in the spring of 2016.
The progress, according to Senior Vice President of Centegra Susan Milford, is steady.
“Things are moving. We hope to see our first patients in the late summer of 2016,” she said.
To celebrate the approved progress of the hospital, Centegra will host a community beam-raising event on Saturday, July 12, according to Milford.
“It’s primarily a family event, and anyone who attends will be able to sign one of the beams being raised in the new hospital,” she said, adding that the event will also offer health screenings and free bicycle helmets for children. “It will be to celebrate and to educate people about their health and wellness.”
This celebration is significant because, at present, there are only two buildings on the Centegra campus in Huntley: the Immediate Care clinic and the Health Bridge Fitness Center. The addition of the Centegra Hospital-Huntley will provide a full-service hospital and emergency room fewer than five miles from Sun City.
“This hospital will be a lot closer to Del Webb than some of the other options right now. Time is an important aspect in any kind of emergency, so that is a real plus,” said Milford.
Sun City and other Huntley residents can anticipate a plethora of services.
Milford revealed that the hospital’s highlights include a 128-bed facility with special services for cardiac care, intensive care, and obstetrics. In addition, the hospital will host a helipad for critical transportation.
“It’s a unique environment that you don’t find in too many communities,” Milford said.
