Linda Carney’s painting of a 1920 image of Huntley’s first school bus was the People’s Choice winner in a recent Huntley history art contest. Carney, of Sun City Huntley, won $100 for having created the most popular artwork.
The art contest was held in conjunction with the annual Look at Local History Month promoted each May by the McHenry County Historical Society. Local event sponsors included the Huntley Park District, Huntley Area Public Library, The Huntley Historical Society and the Village of Huntley Historic Preservation Commission.
Cash prizes for the art contest participants were made available through a generous donation from TCF Bank.
Two artists tied for first place in the adult artwork category. Linda Carney and Rich Grusdis each won $100 for their submissions.
The art work will be on display at the Huntley Village Hall beginning Friday, June 20.
