But we’re not waiting, we’re moving forward. We finished the engineering studies that the Village needed, and we’re waiting for a rental lease from the Village for space for our antenna to be installed on the water tower at Kreutzer and Haligus and the transmitter to be on the base of the tower. Once that’s signed and we have all the funds, we will purchase and install the entire system. After the FCC issues the license, we will turn on the switch and officially become station WHRU-LP at 101.5 FM on your radio dial. Of course, we will continue streaming Huntley Community Radio on your computer or smart phone.
We’re also about to redo our program schedule to reduce repeat broadcasts and reorganize the programs so shows that would appeal to similar groups of people are adjacent to each other. Watch this column for the new and revised schedule. We think you’ll like it.
And while we’re talking about programming. Have you listened to one of our newest shows, “A Little of This and A Little of That: Conversation, Information, People and Places” hosted by retired Northern Illinois University Professor of geography Dan Dillman. Each program will be a potpourri of items from several or all of these categories to inform and amuse. There will be conversations with well informed people on such topics as identity theft, forensic linguistics, climate change, geography, and much more.
And one of our programs has changed names, but is still hosted by Sal Nigro. Formerly “The Book Shelf,” it still is your monthly connection for book lovers. The show is now called “Shelf Life,” Sal will continue to feature interviews with local authors and other members of our literary community. Remember, you can travel the world from the pages of a book so start your journey by tuning into “Shelf Life.”
Huntley Radio is on track to develop new shows so watch for future postings. If you have a good idea for a show, contact me at Dorothy.Litwin@huntleyradio.org. If you would like to host a show or help produce one, consider joining our group of volunteers.
