If you are a diet soda lover, here is something to consider. That soft drink may be refreshing but evidence is mounting that it is cancer in a can. Studies have reinforced the view that Aspartame may cause breast cancer, leukemia, and lymphoma. Aspartame accounts for 75% of all side effects reported to the FDA’s Adverse Research Monitoring System, such as nausea, vertigo, anxiety attacks, migraines, arthritis, asthma, insomnia, memory loss, convulsions, vomiting, chronic fatigue, numbness and shooting pains in legs, cramps, blurred vision, and even blindness. It is especially deadly for diabetics because it keeps the blood sugar level out of control. It makes one crave carbohydrates and makes one fat.
Aspartame, an artificial sweetener, is the most poisonous food additive on the market according to many scientists and Dr. Mercola, who is the author of a book called, Sweet Deception. Aspartame goes by the name NutraSweet, Equal, Spoonful. It is found in over 5,000 processed foods, the worst being the hundreds of diet drinks and anything labeled “sugar free.” It contains 50% Phenylalanine, 40% Aspartic Acid, and 10% Methyl Alcohol. When the temperature of Aspartame exceeds 86 degrees, it converts to formaldehyde and then to formic acid. This is the poison found in the sting of fire ants. The methanol toxicity mimics M.S. Systemic lupus, which has almost become as rampant as M.S. among people who drink 3 to 4 cans a day of Diet coke or Pepsi.
If you desire to dig deeper by the experts, the following are recommended:
— The Famous Nancy Markle Letter (concerning the collusion between EPA and Monsanto)
— Aspartame (Nutrasweet) Is It Safe and Defense Against Alzheimers Disease Both of these books are by H. J. Roberts, M.D. diabetic specialist and world expert on Aspartame poisoning.
— Excitotoxins: The Taste That Kills by Russell Blaylock, M.D. board certified neurosurgeon
— Dr. Mercola’s web site. There is also a recommended DVD called Sweet Misery.

While some information in this post, such as aspartame consisting of the amino acids phenylalanine and aspartic acid, and methanol, is true, much of it is not supported by available science. Aspartame is the most studied food additive in the world and has overwhelmingly been proven safe by regulatory bodies around the world. The most recent full review by the European Food Safety Authority in 2013 concluded that aspartame and it’s break down products are safe for the general population, including children and pregnant women (www.efsa.europa.eu/en/topics/topic/aspartame.htm). Aspartame is also safe for diabetics, as it does not alter blood glucose levels and can curb sweet cravings, as highlighted by both American and Canadian Diabetes Associations.
