SUN CITY – Another break-in occurred in Sun City the second week of November. This time, the offenders took advantage of the fact that the house backed up to open space and allowed them lots of privacy.
Between the hours of 1 and 4 p.m. on Nov. 12, police said a home on Daphne Drive in Neighborhood 36 was entered from the rear. The double sliding door was pried open and items were taken from a master bedroom.
“This was the same method of operation as most of the previous burglaries in the community,” Police Chief John Perkins said. “The residents were away from the home. The homes there back up to open space, and the thieves probably had an easy time gaining entry.”
Perkins said a resident of the area reported seeing a strange car in the neighborhood that day with possibly two persons in it, but authorities have no description of the car nor or any offenders.
“This incident points up what we have been saying about rear sliding doors,” Perkins said. “We recommend that residents wedge a bar horizontally on the inside of the door. It is one of the best ways to prevent this kind of entry.”
