Oslance joins Sun City association as communications director

By Dwight Esau

SUN CITY – One voice, delivering attractive and interesting information, to all appropriate media.

This is the thinking behind the Sun City association’s creation of a new communications coordinator position and hiring an experienced communications professional to fill it.

Sandy Oslance began her new work on Nov. 19 in the association’s Lifestyles Department. She reports to Renee Swanson, the association’s marketing manager. Oslance is the latest of several new department heads brought on board by Executive Director Lauren Lee since she came to Sun City a year ago.

“Sandy will work with Lifestyles Magazine, our website, and coordinate special events and projects,” said Lee. “She also will support Renee in the marketing program, which will include the recruiting of volunteers for special events and projects. She is someone who can make our information relevant and attractive to everyone from residents to donors and sponsors, and centralize our communications so we speak with a single voice.”

Oslance also will support and manage a new project that was started this year and will be fully rolled out in 2015. It is called Constant Contact, a web-based software application that allows the creation and emailing of professional-looking newsletters and messages. This software is designed to replace and upgrade the current e-blasts from Lee each week to residents. The new effort will provide each Sun City resident with a personally addressed email newsletter based on their current Sun City website profile information.

“This new software also will allow us to use new servers that avoid many of the problems we have been having with blocked or undelivered messages on local online servers,” Lee said. “It will take several months to roll this out for charter, special interest, and neighborhood groups,” she said. “Each charter group will have access to the new program, allowing them to promote their activities to their own members as well as to all Sun City residents.

“Oslance will not only play a key role in supporting the new marketing program that we are developing through our marketing committee, she also will take us from a sporadic Facebook participant in social media to an active and innovative presence on established and new social media outlets,” Lee said.
