The latest burglary in Sun City occurred in the 13000 block of Farm Hill Drive in Neighborhood 1.
But this one had a new wrinkle.
According to information relayed to the Sun Day from the victim and later confirmed by police, the offenders pried open a lock on a rear glass patio door and lifted the door off in order to gain entry. Jewelry was taken. The resident was out of the house for a short period when the break-in occurred in the late morning of Feb. 5. No information on the suspects or vehicles used was available, police added.
“There was no bar placed inside the door,” police chief John Perkins said. “The glass door was lifted up and out after the lock was pried open. A bar properly placed against the door would have made that action very difficult.”
“If residents are going to leave for short errands during the day, it is recommended that they be vigilant for out of place or suspicious vehicles and/or people who may be watching from down the street,” said Police Sgt. Leonard J. Marak of the Huntley PD. “If anyone sees something they feel is suspicious, contact the police department at 847-515-5311. If it’s an emergency, call 911.”
