Jim and Nancy do not disclose the fact that they will review a restaurant before they attend, ensuring their reviews are unbiased and uninfluenced by their position with the Sun Day.
There is a restaurant location on Route 47 just a stone’s throw north of Wisted’s Market, which has gone through many lives in the last few years. The latest incarnation is Pub 47, which just opened its doors on February 9th, and we stopped in 2 weeks later.
As with most of the restaurants that we review, this is housed in several units of a strip mall. It’s a modern, upscale family friendly pub with a wide-open floor plan that is basically divided into three sections. To the left is the dining area with normal tables, in the middle is their high-top table section, and to the right is their bar area with a few more high-top tables. There is one feature we have never seen before, separating the bar area from the dining area is a counter with stools on both sides for additional seating.
Now for our pub faire. We started with the Rock Shrimp and Banana Pepper appetizer ($9.95). This was 8 ounces of lightly floured shrimp deep fried and tossed with crispy banana peppers and scallions and served with a zesty cocktail sauce. This was different and tasty, but we think it was a bit pricey.

Nancy had a taste for a big burger tonight, so she went with their signature Pub 47 Burger for $7.95. It was a half-pound, grass-fed beef patty topped with a colossal homemade onion ring on a brioche bun served with lettuce, tomato, and onion. For a $2 up-charge, she added crisp applewood bacon, and for an additional $1 up-charge, she added cheddar cheese.
Jim decided to warm up since it was a very cold evening, so he had the Baked French Onion Soup ($6.50). This was a lighter soup with a dollop of melted cheese on top. He noticed the Philly Steak Panini ($8.95) and decided to give it a go. This was house roasted, thinly sliced beef, topped with Provolone cheese, red onion, and creamy garlic dressing served on sourdough bread.
With all sandwiches, you have your choice of soup, salad, fries, or homemade potato chips. Nancy had the side salad with garlic dressing (of course), and I had the fries which were seasoned.
Pub 47 has a varied menu but don’t expect to take home a doggie bag.
FYI: It is handicap accessible.
The tab for our pub faire was $44.15.
Jim’s take: My grilled sandwich was very tasty and the beef was tender. The garlic dressing was a nice touch.
Nancy’s take: Jim won, his sandwich was yummy. My Pub 47 Burger would have been tastier if it actually came with all the ingredients that were listed on the menu.
