HUNTELY – When the Alden Network plans to build a multi-functional senior healthcare facility, it has to be patient. It will take a lot of time just to get ready to start construction.
The senior healthcare and residential provider came to Huntley back in early 2012 and announced it would like to build a nursing, memory care, assisted-living, and independent living complex on 15 acres right on Sun City’s doorstep. The location would be Regency Square Parkway and Princeton Drive, near the village’s fire station at Farm Hill Drive.
Approvals from the village and several state healthcare oversight organizations, and financing of the project, took nearly three years. Last week, an Alden Realty Services official told the Sun Day that construction will begin either this fall or in the spring of 2016.
“We have approvals from everybody, but we’re still working on financing for a part of the project,” said Randi Schlossberg-Schullo, president of Alden Realty Services Inc. “Construction should take 16 months.” Which means the facility will open in either early or late 2017.
The multi-building project will include a skilled 110-bed nursing and memory-care building, a 60-bed assisted-living facility, and an independent living complex that includes a three-story apartment building and villas. It will be one of the largest construction projects in or near the Sun City area since Del Webb came in 1999. It will also be the first major senior healthcare project in Huntley.
The Alden Network is a family-owned organization that builds and operates senior healthcare, residential, and physical therapy rehabilitation facilities throughout the Chicago area and southern Wisconsin. It began operations about 1970 and now has 45 locations in the two states.
“Throughout this process, Huntley’s village staff and officials have been wonderful,” said Schlossberg-Schullo. “We are looking forward to being part of the Huntley community.”
