We made our goal of $10,000! If you were at Huntley Radio’s Radiothon event on Friday and Saturday, July 31 through August 1, you know how great it was. The tent to keep you cool, the food vendors selling hot dogs, drinks and other goodies, the entertainers and the live broadcasting on the station’s porch.
Radiothon is the idea of William (Sir William) Geheren and Michael Geheren, hosts of the popular show “Two Dudes and the Duchess.” They made it happen, along with the Duchess, Kate Curtin, and volunteer-helpers, Allen Pollack, Dorothy Litwin, Ann Knipp, Scott and Sharon Chamberlain, Robin Massey, Arlen Higgs, Jim Kendros, Wendy Evans, Jim and Nancy Eggers, Lydia Wade, Sam Geati, Engineers Jim Carollo, Robert Yeoman, Ken Czerwinski and Executive Producer Michael Geheren and Associate Producers, Jackie Hendry and Curtis Koch. And let’s not forget our Sponsors.
Gold Sponsors were: Huntley Park District, Huntley Fall Fest, Huntley Chamber of Commerce, Morkes Chocolate, Sun City Community Association of Huntley, Muse Art, Uptown Curls, Pop’s Corn Crib and Kona Ice.
Silver Sponsors were: Heritage Woods of Huntley & Heritage Woods of McHenry, Munchkin Mission, Huntley Senior Citizens Club, Tiffany Marchyshyn -Mary Kay, Fit 4 Mom, Northern Illinois Special Recreation Association, Pub 47, Parkside Pub, Brunch Café and Sheldon Clark from Edward Jones Financial.
And our great entertainers were Tyler Nicodem, Doc Diamond, Jerome Matthews, Jr. and Jim and Justin from Modern Day Romeos and all through the 24 hour Broadcasting Marathon, our on-air guests were WGN Radio’s Orion Samuelson, State Senator Karen McConnaughay, Huntley Mayor Chuck Sass, Superintendent of Huntley Community School District 158 Dr. John Burkey, Claudia Kendzio, Marty McGinley, John McNally, Jaki Berggren of “Visit McHenry County,” Anita Whalen of the Mozart Festival, Robert Richardson of Richardson Adventure Farm, Huntley Police Chief John Perkins, Dina Frigo, Inhabit Theater’s Kellee Stall and Shannon Mayhall, Melissa Nosal and Elizabeth Gaydos of “Sassy Saucy Sister”, Huntley Travels’ Bernice Bakley, Mark Altmeyer and Jessica Lombard of Huntley Community School District 158 and Bryant and Jack Haniszewski. It took 43 volunteers to make it happen.
All donations were from people who not only admired what Huntley Radio broadcasts, but said how they like what we bring to the community and want to see us thrive and continue what we started. We particularly thank Mike Scala for his generous support by matching a major portion of what was donated by the community.
If you missed all the fun, watch for Radiothon 3 next year. WE’LL BE LOOKING FOR YOU.
