Sun City swimmers picked up 30 medals, 20 of them gold, at the annual Six County Senior Olympics Swim Meet at the Addison Park District Pool on July 23. Eight Stingray Club members took part in swims that included fifty yard races in freestyle, backstroke, butterfly, and breaststroke, as well as 100 and 200 yard freestyle events and the grueling 100 yard individual medley, comprised of 25 yards each of butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke, and freestyle.
Under U.S. Masters Swimming Association rules, women and men race separately, and swimmers are timed against one another, according to five year age group increments. Stingrays were represented in age groups ranging from 60 to 85 plus years.
