Break-ins continue to occur in Sun City, and residents need to pay attention to their windows as well as doors, police recently advised.
The latest incident occurred on Winding Creek Loop in Neighborhood 2 on August 22. The residents left the house at 4 p.m. and returned at 6 p.m. and discovered the crime. This is unlike the pattern of most previous break-ins, which occurred in the mid-day hours, police said.
This time, according to Policie Sgt. Leonard Marak, offenders were unable to force open the front door of the home, but gained entry through an open window in the garage.
“The offenders went into the garage through the window, then were able to pry open the access door to the house,” Marak said. “Once inside, the offenders again removed jewelry from a bedroom.”
A neighborhood canvass of surrounding homes was completed; however, it did not turn up any information as to possible suspects, vehicles, etc., Marak said.
“The motive appears to match the other burglaries in the area; however, this one did occur much later ion the day than normal,” he concluded.
Again, he asked residents with any information about suspicious activity to contact Huntley police at 847-515-5311 or by calling the Tip Line at 847-515-5333 to remain anonymous.
