Hope your Thanksgiving was great. Now we’re looking forward to the holiday season – Christmas, Chanukah, Kwanzaa, and New Years. It’s a very exciting time with shopping for gifts, baking special treats, and visiting friends and family. We hope you find time to listen to 101.5 FM, Huntley Community Radio. That’s one of the great advantages of radio; you don’t have to sit down and watch it. It goes with you wherever you are – in the car, in the kitchen, or anywhere there’s an electrical outlet and you can keep on cooking or whatever you’re doing.
With that in mind, I thought I’d remind you about some of our programs you might want to listen to.
Let’s start with our Morning Show which is on every weekday morning from 7 to 10 a.m. Hosted by Mike Caserno, this program is a mixture of news, sports, weather and community events with some fun thrown in. Start your day off with a smile as Mike gets you informed and connected with all you need to know to have a wonderful day.
Or, meet host Jim Kucharski who brings you “Chainsaw’s Polka Madhouse.” Jim features the finest in polka music from the past and present. His show airs every Sunday afternoon from 2-3 p.m.
Also, try “Pondering Our Paws,” which is hosted by Veterinarian Dr. Debra Jenkins (“Dr. Deb”) and technician Jeanette Hansen from the Pet Vet Animal Clinic. Listen as they share information and answer questions on a show all about our furry friends. Their topics range from veterinary medicine, to breed profiles, up-coming pet events, and heartwarming stories. Mondays 12:30 – 1 p.m., Wednesdays 11:30 a.m. to 12 p.m., and Fridays 4-4:30 p.m.
Like to try different restaurants? Listen to the “Dining Duo hosted by “foodies” Jim and Nancy Eggers. They really enjoy finding new restaurants and telling everyone about their culinary experiences, as well as critiquing the old favorite haunts. If you go to our website, huntleyradio.org, and click on their “podcasts,” you will be able to listen to all their past reviews of the more than fifty restaurants they have visited. The “Dining Duo” can be heard every Monday from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m., Thursdays from 12:30-1 p.m., and Fridays 4:30-5 p.m. Those are just a few of our more than forty shows.
Here is another of our “behind the scenes” volunteers – Bill (Sir William) Geheren. Bill is one of the most prolific volunteers we’ve had the privilege of knowing. Not only is he the producer, writer, and co-host of “2 Dudes and the Duchess” with Kate Curtin, he also produces and hosts “3 Guys Walk Into to A Bar,” “Huntley Radio Morning News,” and “Huntley Radio Evening News,” and he is currently developing another show. In addition to all of that, Bill is on the Huntley Radio Executive Board and is Director of Marketing. Could there be more? There is. Bill works full-time as Director of Sales for Heritage Woods in Huntley, an assisted living community. He has lived in Huntley since 1999. He and his wife, Mia, have four boys. He holds a bachelor’s degree in marketing management and accounting from St. Mary’s University in Winona Minnesota and was a former middle school and high school teacher. Believe it or not, Sir Bill does have some limited free time to enjoy golf, music, and watching football, hockey and baseball, specifically Minnesota teams.
Huntley Radio is so lucky having Bill on our team.
