Two members of the Sun City board of directors have been elected officers of the board for 2016.
The election of board officers took place January 6 at the Committee of the Whole meeting. Dennis O’Leary was elected president, succeeding Bonnie Bayser, who has served as president the past two years. O’Leary has a corporate business background and has served on the Finance Advisory and Facility Advisory Committees. Bill Berendt, a past board president and active in the finance governance activities in Sun City for more than 10 years, was elected treasurer, succeeding Bill Bendick. Berendt most recently was a member of the Finance Advisory Committee and rejoined the board this past summer as an appointee to fill a vacancy.
Bayser was elected vice president, succeeding Linda Davis, and Davis was elected secretary, succeeding Bill Ziletti, who retired from board service on January 1. Steve Bytnar, a former member of the IT-Communications committee and print sub-committee, was welcomed to the board for his first term. Currently serving two-year terms for 2016 and 2017 are Bayser, Davis, and Bytnar, and serving one-year terms for 2016 are O’Leary, Bendick, Ken Andersen, and Berendt.
The board conducts two meetings per month that are open to residents. A Committee of the Whole workshop meeting is held on the first Wednesday of the month at 9 a.m. in the Prairie Lodge meeting room, (formerly the computer lab). A regular board meeting is held on the third Wednesday of the month in Drendel Ballroom, Prairie Lodge, at 1 p.m. The next annual and quarterly board meeting will be on January 27 in Drendel Ballroom at 6 p.m.
The schedule, times, and locations or all board meetings for this year was published in the January Lifestyles magazine mailed to all residents earlier this month.
