Huntley police authorities are investigating a man’s death that may have occurred in or near Sun City’s Prairie Lodge pool spa on January 4.
Police officers were dispatched by a 911 emergency call to the lodge’s fitness center and pool spa area at about 9:45 p.m. that evening. This is about 45 minutes past the 9 p.m. closing time for all lodge activities. According to a police report, Martin L. Keech, 59, a resident of Rochester, Minnesota, was found deceased, and a death investigation was launched.
Keech is the son of Lawrence Keech, a resident of Neighborhood 20 in Sun City. The Kane County coroner conducted an autopsy, a police spokesperson said.
As of January 21, authorities declined to reveal any other information pending completion of the investigation.
A native of Minneapolis, Minnesota, and an honor student in high school, Martin Keech was a graduate of the University of Illinois with an engineering degree. He worked for the IBM Co. in Rochester for more than 30 years. In addition to his father, he is survived by ex-wife and his four children.
