Sun City’s governing board has renamed three activity rooms in Prairie Lodge.
The “old computer club room,” (recently also called a “meeting room”) is now the Hickory Room.
The large room next to the atrium in Fountain View Center is now the Birch Room.
The breakout room next to the new Birch Room in Fountain View is now the Cedar Room.
“These names are consistent with our general policy of naming our facilities with nature-related themes, such as ‘Wildflower Lake’ or ‘Tall Oaks Tennis Club’ and ‘Eakin Creek Field,’ said Executive Director Deanna Loughran. ”The Fountain View rooms had no signs on them and they were simply called Fountain View rooms. We need to be more specific.”
This was a staff recommendation to the board after the Village of Huntley recently asked association officials to more clearly identify emergency exits to all rooms. Signs identifying these rooms with their new names will be displayed as soon as possible, the board said.
Before the recommendation was approved unanimously, some board members asked about the names of other rooms.
“The names of other Prairie Lodge rooms such as the card room and game room are clearly labeled and known by the functions and activities performed in those rooms,” said Bill Bendick. “I suggest that the naming of rooms is a marketing function, so I believe the marketing committee should be asked to consider and recommend room name changes in the future.”
