Recently, our Sun City community rejoiced with the opening of the new state-of-the art 128-bed Centegra Hospital located on Haligus Road. Did you know that the same Centegra Health System supporting this large major medical facility is available in Prairie Lodge as a walk-in clinic treating lesser health issues amongst our residents?
Lifestyles magazine reveals the hours of service provided at the health clinic located in the lodge between the Fitness Center and the Fountain View Center. The Walk-In Clinic includes the hours of 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. On-site lab hours are Monday through Friday 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 1-2 p.m. Office hours include Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. On Thursdays, the office doors are open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.
With no appointments needed, the highly trained staff is ready to treat common illnesses and minor injuries. Prescriptions may be written there, as well as vaccinations given for tetanus and the flu. A blood pressure machine is available for use during open hours. As you can see by the above info, convenient walk-in lab services are also offered.
In addition to the above services, the Wellness Center offers monthly programs to our citizens. For example, free blood pressure checks were given at Meadow View Lodge very recently. Still coming in October is a one-day free flu vaccine clinic (appointments necessary) to be held on Friday, October 7, from 9 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. in Prairie Lodge’s Drendel Ballroom’s Breakout A-B Rooms. A discussion lecture conducted by a Centegra pharmacist will be offered towards the end of October: “BYOM: Bring Your Own Medicine” (Friday, October 21 from 1-4 p.m. in the Wellness Center). One offering on recent research discoveries in cancer will take place on Tuesday, October 25, from 1:30-2:30 p.m. in P.L.’s Birch Room. Led by a Centegra oncology dietitian, it is titled “Cancer Prevention: What’s True, What’s New.”
Finally, free hearing screening will be provided by Affiliated Ear, Nose and Throat Physicians. Appointments are necessary and exams will be provided on Friday, October 28 from 1-4 p.m. in the Wellness Center. All of the center’s upcoming October programs are free, but will require registration.
The Diabetes and Care of the Caregiver Support Groups are also supported through the Wellness Center. For consultations with a clinical psychologist on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of each month, and to learn more about the Wellness Center and Walk-in Clinic, please call 847-515-2078.
