All good things come to an end as ātheyā say. Eighteen months ago, when I started this fun gig describing interesting items I discovered while shelving, I worked my two short shifts mostly in the adult sections. Over time, however, my duties have been redirected to the childrenās room which has its own joys, but eliminates the premise of my articles. I greatly enjoy the chatter of the toddlers, but the serendipity of finding interesting adult items has become the trade-off. Nothing is constant but change, right? So, thanks for the opportunity to share thoughts with you.
Letters from Skye
by Jessica Brockmole
FIC BRO
Skye is a place, not a person. Intriguing cover art enticed me to read the inside flap. The story is revealed through an exchange of letters between two sets of people during two different world wars on different continents. The initial letter is from a college lad in Urbana, IL written on March 5, 1912. I was looking at the book on March 5 of this year. Surely a sign I should read it.
Bob Dylan: voice of a generation
by Jeremy Roberts
Y B DYLAN
Still trying to read more biographies. Since Dylan was recently awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature, I thought I ought to know a bit more about him. I opted for a āyoung adultā book since I was looking for an overview, not minutia. I should probably look in the CD section for some background music as I read.
The Christian World
by Martin Marty
270 MAR
Recently I was reminded of how little I remember about the early Christian church despite all that tuition money my parents spent on my parochial education. Therefore, I went looking for an easy overview. This book has chapters clearly titled, so I can pick where I want to review. I recognized the authorās name as an expert in the field. The print is a bit small, so Iāll have to read in the morning when my eyes are not tired.
