If we care about our children and grandchildren and want this generation and future generations to enjoy a bountiful state and planet — we can’t continue to deplete resources, emit greenhouse gases at the current rate, and fail to invest in renewable energy sources. This week, President Trump confirmed he would ignore the pleas of scientists, world leaders, economists, CEOs, and a majority of Americans.
President Trump withdrew the United States from the Paris Climate Accord. This is a mistake of historic proportions. It’s a snub to our planet and our nation.
Our country is blessed with resources. We have our beautiful Great Lakes shoreline, lush forests, and some of the most valuable farmland in the Midwest.
By pulling out of the Paris Agreement and failing to address climate change, President Trump puts our state’s rich beauty and economy in peril. He is blatantly failing to represent the wishes of Americans who have shown they care about our planet and our future, not just present political agendas.
Please voice your objections to President Trump’s decision to withdraw from the Paris agreement.
I could list statistic after statistic that corroborates the sound science behind climate change (If you are skeptical check out what NASA (hardly an agency that makes up lies!) has to say: climate.nasa.gov/evidence/
“Multiple studies published in peer-reviewed scientific journals1 show that 97 percent or more of actively publishing climate scientists agree: Climate-warming trends over the past century are extremely likely due to human activities. In addition, most of the leading scientific organizations worldwide have issued public statements endorsing this position.”
You just need to look around to understand. Farmers are struggling with erratic growing seasons and extreme weather events. Changing water levels are posing challenges to businesses and infrastructure around the Great Lakes.
The blatant disregard of science and reality that lead to the withdrawal of the Paris Climate Accord endangers our future in very real ways. When leaders deny facts, citizens need to listen to their conscience and speak up. Yes, senior citizens may live through this, but we need to consider the future we’re leaving for our children and grandchildren.
Make your opposition known. Tell President Trump this is wrong.

After YOUR (Chris La Pelusa’s) strong factual editorial on the hospital, I expected more from Dwight Esau’s article. He made the Board Meeting seem like a stroll through a park.
The ladies from Sew ‘N’ Sew presented a definitive argument on the monies for the equipment replacement promised them. The fact that they have to pay back monies for a CAM mistake is unconscionable.
All of this was ignored by the Board when they voted to penalize the Sew ‘N’ Sew group rather than admonish CAM for bad advise and errors.
Then George Sebastian and Ken Czerwinski spoke in detail on the serious issues with the new website. Even though a Board member talk to George and Ken, after the meeting, admitting to serious problems with the WHOLE Northstar program (both the management side and the website), they have since taken no positive action and we have been told that they will continue to ignore what needs to be done.
Thanks for an otherwise good biweekly.
