Remember when you had to go five miles to Randall Road for most of your shopping? Today, you just have to go to Route 47, Regency Square, or the Huntley Town Square, and you find most of what you need or want.
In this report, we have three more enterprises that are coming to Huntley on the east side of 47 in front of the Huntley Walmart. Residents may have noticed the excavation work that has been done in the area between the new Burger King restaurant and Regency Parkway.
If you are into social media or cellphones, the first lot south of the Burger King will interest you. It will be a Verizon electronics store sometime next year. If you like Chinese fast food or takeout, Panda Express officials will soon accommodate you, possibly by this time next year. There are already Panda Express locations in Algonquin, Crystal Lake, and Carpentersville.
Continuing southward, the third lot is not yet locked up by anyone, but village economic development official Margo Griffin says the village is talking with potential businesses that are interested.
The fourth lot, right next to the intersection of 47 and Regency Parkway, will be the third area store of O’Reilly’s Auto Parts, a large national chain. O’Reilly has other locations in Elgin and Lake in the Hills. The O’Reilly store has been approved by the village but as of this writing does not have its construction permits. O’Reilly’s will join Auto Zone to create two auto parts stores in outlots outside Walmart.
According to Griffin, these four locations consist of phase two of the Huntley Crossing commercial subdivision. As reported earlier, a Panera Bread restaurant is coming to the southeast corner of Kreutzer Road and 47 in 2018 (also a Walmart outlot). CVS Pharmacy will soon come to the northwest corner of Kreutzer and 47, across the street from Walgreens.
Despite all this, there are still plenty of commercial sites available throughout many areas of the village. Huntley continues to be a significant commercial destination.
