I’m going to be honest: I’m getting sick and tired of having to change the Sun Day’s masthead to memorialize another tragedy. Not that I don’t want to memorialize the victims of tragedy but that there’s a tragedy out there to begin with. I’m sick of it!
Ever since becoming a father, it doesn’t take much for me to empathize with the grief of parents who lose a child, and right now my heart is breaking for those parents who lost a child on Valentine’s Day, when a nutcase armed with a military assault rifle began shooting students and staff at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida.
I have plenty of opinions on mental illness and gun control and what I think our forefathers actually meant by the right to bear arms, but I’ll leave those debates for people better suited to make the public arguments and put my attention on the poor families of the victims of the MSDHS shooting.
To the families of the victims of this heinous act: our hearts, thoughts, and prayers are with you.
