The Guy’s Breakfast Club from Neighborhood 4 recently gathered at Joe and Jo Ann Santercier’s home to celebrate Evan Ypsilantis’ 98th birthday.
Evan was born on June 28, 1920. He served in the United States Army in the Aleutian Islands and in the Philippians during WWll. Ypsilantis was on leave and visiting friends when he met Matina, his beautiful wife.
“This beautiful, 19-year-old Greek girl came down the stairs to say hello and I was done. We knew it was the real thing.”
They were married on June 8, 1946. After 70 years of marriage, Matina passed in 2016. They raised three children and have four grandkids and four great grandkids.
Evan owes his longevity to several factors: he never smoked, he exercised, and enjoys an occasional scotch.
Thank you for your service and Happy Birthday, Evan!
