Question: My wife and I just moved into a house in Del Web and are doing some renovating as we move in. The Patio door needs replacing and the lock at the bottom doesn’t work, as it’s broken. The lock at the middle that locks to the frame on the wall has the handle broken. Plastic cover is broken off! Two questions:
What is the manufacture of the door?
Can the locks be repaired or replaced?

Your article on fire extinguisher use should be required reading for every resident, but I wish you had included another warning about fire in the home. Always call 911 and make sure that anyone else inside evacuates the premises immediately, aiding anyone with mobility issues if necessary. A fire can spread much faster than you think, and saving lives is much more important than saving property. Also, even if you manage to extinguish the visible fire, firefighters have the equipment to verify that the fire hasn’t spread into walls, behind cabinets, etc.
Question: We just moved into Del Webb and bought a Pulte home, Drury model. All of our interior doors are white, and a few need to be repainted. Just wondering if there was a standard color white that was used and where to buy it.
Answer: There were a couple of different white woodwork paints used, but even if you knew the exact color your house was painted with ten years ago, new paint would not match. Go to any good paint store and pick up some white paint chips. You will be surprised at how many there are. Take these home and hold them up to your woodwork until you find a good match. You may have to go back to the store to get more chips.
