Political Place: Citizens for Altering the Old School Site meeting

This important meeting is regarding a proposed project for the Old School Site located on the northwest corner of IL Route 47 and Mill Street. A portion of the land also borders Main Street.

The planning board will consider the application of SMDMF LLC – 47 relating to the real estate commonly known as + – 17.09 acres generally located at the northwest corner of IL Route 47 and Mill Street, Huntley. A portion of the land also borders Main Street on the north side. The proposal as presented to the Village of Huntley Board Members can be found on the Village of Huntley, Agendas and Minutes website in the packet for April 26, 2018 meeting, starting on page 42.

The development consists of:

3 high-density 3-story multi-family apartment buildings consisting of 132 units
4 townhome buildings consisting of 16 units
8 single-family homes
4 commercial/office buildings
748 parking spaces for the overall development

All the traffic will filter out to either Mill Street to Route 47 or directly to Main Street, very close to existing traffic signals. Also, Lincoln Street to Main Street will be used. These intersections are already over-burdened. Just think about school time or when people are coming home from work. Everyone will be affected! Now is the time residents have a chance to speak up about their concerns.

Huntley is known as the village with the Country Charm. Let’s keep it that way.
