This is a very short story about a very long criminal court case that began in Sun City in 2015.
It started in December of that year when Jennifer Lupo, a former employee of the Sun City finance department and a resident of Lake in the Hills, was charged with felony theft. It is still pending in Kane County Criminal Court, Geneva, because she has reportedly not shown up for numerous recent court appearances for medical reasons.
After more than two-dozen postponements and two delays of bench trials, Lupo failed to appear at the latest hearing February 27. The case was again continued to March 6, but a judge ordered that proof of her medical condition be provided on that date. The exact nature of her medical condition is not known.
A 2016 investigation by the Huntley Police revealed numerous unauthorized personal purchases charged to Sun City accounts of more than $20,000. After an extensive investigation, Lupo was specifically charged with unauthorized control of funds exceeding $10,000, a class 2 felony. She has requested a bench trial.
