Our very own Stingrays’ Swim Club member, Mark Schark, recently took top honors in his 55-59 Men’s age group at the Illinois State Masters’ Swim Meet. Talented Illinois Master swimmers met at Munster, Indiana’s High School Aquatic Center on the weekend of April 12 through April 14 to demonstrate their competitive prowess. Mark, swimming with his Elgin Blue Wave Masters Swim Team, completed 9 individual events and 4 relays.
Our Sun City senior was able to accomplish his heroic feats by posting the following outstanding results: Third Place in the 400 Yard IM (100 yards each of Butterfly, Back, Breast, and Free), Second Place in the 200 Yard Backstroke, and, First Place for the Men’s 55+, 400 Yard X 100 Yard Medley Relay where 4 team members swim 100 yards each of their preferred stroke (Butterfly, Back, Breast, and Free).
Schark swam 100 yards of the Backstroke. Thirty-four men competed in Schark’s age category with Schark’s aquatic skills earning him the remarkable results of 52 points and a tie for a 4th Place Overall Finish.
