Three cheers for Sun City Huntleyâs âSPIC & SPANâ crews. Theyâre the ones who are very good at their jobs of keeping everything spotless in and around the Lodges. They are the housekeepers, dusters, vacuum cleaner operators, chair and table movers, window washers , pool tile scrubbers , rest room monitors. On the outside of the Lodges the landscapers and snow remover personnel do a great job. And that includes all managers and all of the wonderful people keeping the Lodges and common areas looking like new, day after day. Not to be forgotten are the maintenance guys who monitor the HVAC and all of the other mechanicals.
It is not uncommon to see housekeepers dusting the legs on tables and chairs, polishing windows , wiping insides of locker cabinets, and cleaning other areas that are even less conspicuous. They do whatever and wherever there is a need. Their job is to keep everything that needs to be cleaned clean. And that means everything.
There isnât any notoriety for their ongoing labor or any other official committee designation, unspoken as it is. There isnât any listing in the Lifestyle, the website or other community announcements, but their conscientious efforts and the groupsâ leadership deserve a thank you via this commentary. Keep up the good work.
Extending a personal word of thanks would be a pleasant acknowledgement for job well done for any member of the Sun City âSpic & Spanâ crews.

Because of a tweet from an unhinged supporter of President Trump, Mr. Kerth has left the planet and offers the scenario that a Civil War is in the making, and Trump is “encouraging” it.
As he envisions developments, if President Trump is impeached and booted from office, his “patriotic” supporters will never accept the congressional determination and will arm themselves with AR-15s and other attack weapons and with “itchy fingers” bring about a war and a blood bath in retaliation.
Planet Kerth is a teacher and a storyteller and this vision of the future will certainly enhance his reputation. But then, one might ask if Mr. Kerth is going a bit overboard in communicating his obvious disdain for the nation’s 45th President.
In his column of November 7, author Kerth reacts to a tweet on October 22 from a supercharged Trump fan who wrote: “I will be buying an AR-15 tomorrow, because if you impeach MY PRESIDENT, YOU WILL HAVE ANOTHER CIVAL (sic) WAR!!! MAGA2020”
That tweet came from none other than Major League Baseball Umpire Rob Drake. Reportedly, Drake’s tweet was deleted almost immediately and few people saw it. Unusual, for sure, coming from a baseball caller of balls and strikes. MLB officials promptly issued a statement that Drake is a “passionate and outstanding umpire…who chose the wrong way to convey his opinion about our great country.” (Very likely, Mr. Drake will be headed for counseling at the request of his liberal bosses.)
Bolstering his opinion of a bloody future war if Trump is removed from office, Kerth pointed to a tweet from the President himself on September 29 in which he (Trump) called attention to the televised comments of a Texas minister who said that removing Trump might cause a “Civil War-like-fracture in this Nation…â Saying that the President is encouraging war is a planet-sized fantasy.
Planet Kerth apparently wants us all to believe that the ravings of one supercharged Trump fan will plunge the nation into another bloody Civil War if Trump is impeached. If that logic applies, should we then believe that all Democrats are ready to decriminalize crime and do away with prisons as members of their ranks have proposed.
Kerth avers that he is a “true patriot, as I hope and trust you are.”
Most Americans, Republicans and Democrats, are just as reasonable as Kerth claims to be, and most of us recognize and accept the process of law, even if we don’t like it. And most of us also know that Trump’s middle of the night tweets are not an effort to incite and encourage a bloody war. Kerth needs to give better thought to his political theories, or simply confine his writings to other more mundane issues.
