Outdoor Sun City exercise class begins at the pavilion

Sun City is offering an outdoor fitness class at the Pavilion. The class began on June 22, and weather permitting, will occur weekly on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10 a.m. “Music N Moves” is led by Laura McGovern. Participants are advised to bring sunscreen, a hat, sunglasses, hand sanitizer, and a bottle of water. No equipment is used, which negates an opportunity for bacteria to spread. By their very nature, athletic facilities like gyms tend to have a higher potential for spreading germs.

To discourage socializing, participants are asked to arrive at the Pavilion no earlier than 5 minutes before class. Instructions given for the class stated, “Maintain a social distance of 6 feet and wear a mask before and after class. Masks do not have to be worn during class. During class, you must maintain a 10 feet distance from other participants. If you do not feel well, please stay at home. If you cough or sneeze, cover your mouth. Do not touch your face or other surfaces, and wash your hands frequently, especially after class, and when you return home.”

McGovern, leading the class said, “The class lasts 45 minutes and we are hoping to get people out and moving.”

Sharyn Goebelt said, “I enjoyed the first class very much. I like getting back into a routine.”

Pat Hector, attending the class for the first time said, “I have been doing the ZOOM classes with Laura and appreciate those classes, so I thought I’d give this a try.”

If you’re not ready to try outdoor classes, the live streaming classes will still be offered. Just visit the weekly virtual calendar.
