Huntley PNC Bank branch set to close

By David Goode

As of July 16, there will be only eight banks on Illinois Route 47 in Huntley. The PNC Bank branch at the south end of Huntley is closing then.

The announcement came in a letter to PNC Bank account holders from Michael G. Bickers, Executive Vice President, Market Manager of PNC Bank.

The letter stated, “we have carefully studied the effectiveness of our branches based on their physical capacity as well as the number of customers who frequent each location.”

Bickers’ letter continued, “as a result, the Huntley branch located at 13300 Routh 47 will closed and be combined into the Algonquin branch located at 791 S. Randall Rd, Algonquin, IL.”

The bank building was home to a branch of National City Bank until the Pittsburgh, PA based PNC Bank acquired the National City Bank system in October 2008. The Illinois branches of National City Bank were renamed PNC Bank in June 2010.

Currently, the bank offers Monday through Friday drive through services from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Lobby hours are by appointment only.

The PNC closure will be the second bank to leave Huntley this year. The Wells Fargo bank branch at 13308 Village Green Drive closed in February 2021. According to the Wells Fargo website, the Huntley branch was one of 800 planned closures nationwide.
