Apples are a good source of fiber and vitamin C. But at Goebbert’s, they’re also a great source of caramel.

The number of apples they produce is quite the feat.

Sam Skog, one of the employees who is charged with caramel apple production, said, “We are busy making apples every day. This week on Monday we made about 3000. 5600 on Tuesday and 3500 on Wednesday. Our goal is 10,000 for the weekend. We make the caramel apples here at the Pingree Grove location for our Barrington location also.”

But the applies don’t stop there.

Terry Goebbert said, “We will make and sell over 100,000 caramel apples during the season. Our success is the homemade caramel made fresh and our fresh crisp apples, Jonagolds, from our orchard.”

Customer Joanne Hill, visiting the farm, said, “I love their caramel apples. I was going to eat only a half of the apple, cutting it half. Then I cut the other half in half wanting to save it for later, but I ate it all.”

Darlene Trolliet agrees.

“It is the best caramel apple. It does not compare to anything else. You can’t buy one from anywhere else once you have had one of Goebbert’s homemade caramel apples. The sweetness from the caramel combined with the tartness of the apple, pure heaven. The cider donuts are out of this world also,” she said.

How many cider donuts does Goebbert’s sell?

Goebbert said, “That number is even higher. Our cider donuts go quickly.”

Goebbert’s offers plenty of other festive fall treats as well. They have apple squares, pumpkin squares, and pies.

You can get one of those delicious homemade caramel apples, plain or with nuts, down the road on Highway 47. There is an 18-foot-wide, 15-foot-tall “Happy Jack” pumpkin on the farm’s silo that has become a landmark in the area. Goebbert’s Farm is a destination for seasonal events in Illinois. It has a corn maze, wagon rides, pony rides, a jumping pillow, pig races, gem mining, a haunted house designed for children, train rides and various exotic animals in addition to farm animals and birds.

Terry Goebbert, “We are a great place for families to come and have a great fall day.”
