As the last Happy Trails of the year, I ordinarily give the many thanks to our readers and advertisers they deserve for their commitment to this publication, and while that still applies here, my focus in this Happy Trails is our new print readers.
This year, we launched the print edition of My Huntley News, giving the Huntley community for the first time in many years a local news source beyond the digital variety, and so far as we can see, it’s been widely accepted throughout the village.
I know with a new publication, especially a local publication, especially a local newspaper, it’s easy to overlook. It might be considered junk mail, destined for the recycling bin or the bottom of a birdcage. But many of you have not seen MHN like that. You’ve seen the value in having a hyper-local news source that provides the community with important and entertaining information that actually has relevancy to your daily lives.
Since launching MHN in print in August have we faced criticism? Of course. Honestly, it’s par for the course for newspapers, and I welcome it even more than praise. Have we made mistakes? Absolutely. Any new publication, no matter the years of experience it’s workers bring, experiences hiccups and growing pains. My Sun Day News is almost twelve years old, and I know firsthand that it takes a couple years to develop a flow and work the kinks out. But for the most part, our readers have been very understanding. And as the owner and publisher, I thank you sincerely for that, because there are dozens of people that contribute to each edition of MHN and MSDN that put a lot of heart and effort into the execution of their work. Your acceptance is paramount to everyone here.
To our new readers: Thank you for embracing My Huntley News and welcoming these pages into your lives. I hope you look forward to each edition and enjoy the content. Mostly, I hope it brings value and even a little clarity to your daily lives within the Huntley community.
To our continued readers: Thank you for your constant commitment. You’re the vehicle that continues to bring this newspaper where it needs to go. Your everlasting support is much appreciated and never overlooked.
To our advertisers: Specifically to our new advertisers. I know how much of a risk it is to invest time and money into a new publication, and by that I mean into an idea, without something concrete to believe in, but your belief in the idea of MHN made it a reality, which is wonderful example of teamwork.
Working together to benefit all is what a village is supposed to be about, and this news company is committed to the Village of Huntley. You dear readers, old and new, and advertisers help us do our part in the community, and that I thank you for the most.
